IMF says still considering gold sales

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) says that it is still considering selling more than 10 million ounces of gold, to fund poor-country debt relief. Media reports on Wednesday quoted Giorgio Dhima, the Swiss official in charge of negotiations with the IMF as saying: "Consideration is ongoing about selling more than just the 10 million ounces." In recent months the IMF has been criticised by miners' organisations and major producer countries, like South Africa, that the intended sale would hurt those very people that it hoped to help.
