Tariff cuts by January

The 14-member South African Development Community (SADC) said it was "close to launching a regional round of tariff cuts," news report said on Wednesday. SADC has ruled that the proposal can go ahead once seven members had ratified the regional trade agreement. Five have already done so, with South Africa and Malawi touted as next in line to ratify. According to the news reports, SADC officials said that tariffs on at least 60 percent of goods traded between member states would be abolished.
