Talks with Zambia on repatriating soldiers

The DRC and Zambian governments have opened bilateral talks to discuss the repatriation of 750 Congolese soldiers and policemen, the Zambian ‘Post’ daily reported yesterday. It quoted UNHCR spokesman Dominik Bastch who said they were not being treated as refugees but as ex-military. However, he said if negotiations between Zambia and DRC became protracted, UNHCR would continue to extend humanitarian assistance.
