“Pastoralists living along the borders of Sudan, Kenya, Ethiopia and Uganda are losing their lives due to increased cross-border resource-based armed conflicts,” reports the October issue of OCHA Pastoralists Voices.
According to the report, renewed tensions over the past few months are prompted by “depleted livestock, limited pasture and water from the cumulative effect of three years of drought and the availability of small arms” as well as aggressive pastoralists’ movements in search of pasture and water.
Governments are reportedly turning a blind eye.
