The ‘New Liberia’, a newspaper published by Liberia’s Information Ministry, on Tuesday reported an attack by dissidents on Kolahun in the northern county of Lofa. It quoted Ministry of Defense sources as saying that the attacks came over “the past several days” as government forces tried to liberate Kolahun. It said the attacks were launched from the northwestern border area adjacent to the Parrot’s Beak, a strip of Guinean territory that is also adjacent to Sierra Leone. The newspaper said residents fleeing the area reported heavy firing as government forces tried to push back the dissidents.
