The Yemen Listening Project

The story of Yemen’s long war has mostly been told by journalists, aid groups, and politicians. Until now.

The Yemen Listening Project wants to hear what Yemenis have to say, and publish your stories, to share them with the world. In order to do this, we would like to hear your answer to this one question: How has the war in Yemen impacted your life?

While we are asking about the war, your answer doesn’t have to be sad. You can tell a love story. A story of losing a home, or finding a new one. It’s your story, so it’s up to you what you choose to tell, and how you tell it.

The New Humanitarian will publish and share your stories in English and Arabic. This is your chance to speak up and be heard. The world is listening.

How to participate:

Answer the question “How has the war in Yemen impacted your life?” in 300 written words, or in three minutes of an audio (like a WhatsApp voice note) or video recording.

Email your story to [email protected], send it by WhatsApp to +967733333896, fill out this form, or message us on this Facebook group.

The deadline to submit your story is 1 October 2023.

When you send your story, please include the following information: Your name or initials, your age, where you live, and where you are originally from.

If you would like to, you can attach photos, video, drawings, or other material that help tell your story.

لطالما كانت تروى قصة الحرب الطويلة في اليمن على لسان الصّحفيين والمنظّمات الإغاثيّة والسياسيّين. وما زال الوضع على حاله حتى الآن.

غير أنّ هذا المشروع يسعى للاستماع إلى ما يقوله اليمنيّون أنفسهم ومشاركة قصصكم مع بقيّة العالم. ومن أجل تحقيق ذلك، نرجو منك الإجابة على السؤال التالي: كيف أثّرت الحرب في اليمن على حياتك؟

صحيحٌ أننا نسألك عن الحرب، لكن ليس من الضروري أن تكون إجابتك حزينةً. فبإمكانك أن تخبرنا قصة حب، أو قصة فقدان منزلٍ أو العثور على منزلٍ جديد. فالقصة قصتك، ولك أن تقرر أحداثها وطريقة سردها.

ستقوم وكالة «ذا نيو هيومانيترين» بنشر ومشاركة قصتك باللغتين الإنكليزية والعربية. وهذه فرصتك لترفع الصوت وتلقى آذاناً صاغية. فالعالم يصغي.

كيفية المشاركة:

أجب على سؤال «كيف أثّرت الحرب في اليمن على حياتك؟» بمقطع مكتوب من 300 كلمة أو عبر تسجيل صوتي مدّته 3 دقائق (مثل رسائل واتساب الصوتية) أو فيديو مصوّر.

أرسِل قصتك إلى عنوان البريد الإلكتروني التالي [email protected] أو عبر تطبيق واتساب إلى الرقم 967733333896+ أو عبر تعبئة هذه الاستمارة، أو عبر التواصل معنا على هذه المجموعة على موقع فيسبوك.

إن الموعد النهائي لإرسال قصتك هو 1 اكتوبر 2023.

يرجى ذكر المعلومات التالية عند إرسال قصتك: الاسم أو الحرف الأول من الاسم والشهرة، ومكان الإقامة، وبلد الأصل.

بإمكانك إرفاق صور أو مقطع فيديو أو رسومات أو أي مواد أخرى تحكي قصتك.
