Ugandan prisoners of war paraded

Rwanda has paraded 28 Ugandans and five Congolese prisoners captured in the Kisangani fighting from 5-11 June, to the media. The prisoners are being held at a military camp in the central prefecture of Gitarama, where they arrived on Friday according to Rwandan authorities. “Ugandan authorities should stop to posture by denying that we don’t have their prisoners. It is normal to take prisoners in any war,” Rwandan government spokesman Joseph Bideri said. “As a matter of fact, the army leadership in Uganda is negotiating their release with the military authorities here,” he added. Ugandan officials said they were not aware of any Ugandan prisoners being held in Rwanda.
