Migrants sit on mattresses laid on the floor at a detention centre, located in Libya, Wednesday 1 February 2017. The detention centre was once used as a dining hall for weddings. At one time, up to 720 people were being held at the centre, according to the director. At the time of UNICEF’s visit, 160 men were being detained there. There were only six bathrooms. Migrants being detained at the centre are unable to go outside and eat their meals where they live and sleep, on mattresses laid side by side in the cavernous room. The director said that neither doctors or medicines can access the centre, and food is of a poor quality as suppliers have not been paid.
