Vanesa Portillo and her teenage partner holding their newborn baby in a shelter for migrants in Tapachula, Mexico. The couple fled El Salvador after receiving death threats from gang members. They tried to cross Mexico irregularly three times and were twice detained and deported by immigration authorities. By the third time, Vanessa was eight months pregnant and ended up giving birth in Tapachula where they have applied for asylum.
