Security Council Fails to Adopt Draft Resolutions on Syria
The Security Council took a vote on a draft resolution on Syria, which would have established for one year a new mechanism to investigate the use of chemical weapons in Syria, as well as identify those responsible for their use. The vote was 12 in favour with 2 against (Bolivia and Russia), and one abstention (China). The draft resolution was not adopted due to the vote against by the Russian Federation, a permanent member of the Council.
