Micro-credit for women's projects

Taiwan granted a US $3-million credit to Senegal on Friday, to support the West African nation's micro-credit scheme intended to finance projects set up by women. The three-year credit would allow women to run small-investment projects with the overall aim of promoting women's business initiatives and enhance their role in society, the pro-government Le Soleil newspaper reported on Monday. The agreement was signed in the capital Dakar between the ambassador of China, Chou Seng Tou, and Salif Ba, who represented the ministry of finance and economy.
