German parliamentarians pledge support

A visiting delegation of German federal parliamentarians has pledged to explore avenues for increased cooperation between Rwanda and Germany, the Rwandan News Agency (RNA) reported Thursday. RNA quoted Rwandan presidential spokesman, Nicholas Shalita, as saying that the delegation was visiting Rwanda for a familiarisation tour during which they visited a number of German government-funded projects and held meetings with senior government officials, including President Paul Kagame. “We are satisfied with the developments taking place in Rwanda,” said the leader of the German delegation Joachim Tappe of the Social Democratic Party, adding that Germany will continue close cooperation with Rwanda, particularly in the areas of good governance, the health sector and development of a competitive market-oriented economy, RNA reported.
