Georgia’s conflict over the breakaway region of South Ossetia displaced a total of 192,000 people in Georgia, South Ossetia, and North Ossetia in August, according to the UN Refugee Agency's (UNHCR) latest briefing notes on the country.

Of these at least 68,000 have since returned home to Georgia. UNHCR and the Georgian government estimate that another 5,000 will go home before the onset of winter, bringing the number of returnees to 73,000.
