Catholic church "surprised" by accusations

In Rwanda, the Catholic church said it was a "bit surprised" the report stated it had never asked for forgiveness. "Catholic bishops asked for forgiveness on behalf of former church officials who did not do enough," the secretary general of the Rwandan episcopal conference, Father Augustin Musada, told the BBC Kinyarwanda service. He acknowledged there had been no official statement, saying "that will be done in its own time" after thorough investigations which the church had already started.
