Ex-RUF children face difficulties in CDF areas

Agencies operating in the south of Sierra Leone have emphasised the continuing tension surrounding children associated with Revolutionary United Front (RUF) rebels returning to pro-government Civil Defence Forces (CDF) territories, UNICEF reported. Their concern was expressed at a National Child Protection Committee meeting on 6 July which also highlighted improvements in governmental monitoring of childcare institutions in terms of identifying concerns and the need for greater commitment to follow up on these concerns. Meanwhile a British engineer attached to the Marines donated six baby cots, 10 fitted sheets, 12 baby blankets and 34 cartons of baby food to the Child Protection Committed through UNICEF.
