EU to maintain humanitarian flights

    NAIROBI
    The European Community Humanitarian Office (ECHO) this week approved nearly US $9 million to maintain humanitarian flights serving countries in the drought-stricken Horn of Africa. In a statement released in Brussels, it said: “ECHO flight is an essential lifeline for the humanitarian community in a region where road links are dangerous or non-existent, and air links unreliable where they exist. This funding will enable Nairobi-based operations to continue.”
