Opposition trial postponed

The murder trial of opposition leader Ousainou Darboe and 24 members of his United Democratic Party (UDP) has been adjourned to 23 October, AFP reported on Thursday. The delay was requested by the prosecuting lawyer on the grounds that he was not yet fully prepared for the case. No objection was put up by the defence, AFP said. Darboe and his co-accused are charged with the murder of an activist of the ruling Alliance for Patriotic Reorientation and Construction (APRC) who died in June after fighting between supporters of the two parties. They have all pleaded not guilty.
