New oil rig

The US oil company Exxon-Mobil has inaugurated a new US $560-million oil rig near Malabo, AFP reported, quoting Equatorial Guinea’s national radio. The new rig will increase daily production at the Zafiro offshore oilfield, which is mined by Exxon-Mobil, from 95,000 barrels (just over three-quarters of the country’s output) to 130,000 barrels, AFP reported. Its inauguration on Thursday was attended by Equatorial Guinea’s president, Teodoro Obiang Nguema, and Ghanaian President Jerry Rawlings, who visited the Central African nation last week.
