Kabila to visit country’s interior

President Joseph Kabila is to undertake his first ever visit to the interior of the country this weekend, the Kinshasa newspaper ‘Le Palmares’ reported. It said he would travel to Bandundu province on Saturday where he would visit the towns of Bandundu, Kikwit, Kenge and Inongo. He would then go on to Bas-Congo province and the two Kasai provinces. “Major-General Joseph Kabila is beginning his great listening tour of the country,” the paper commented. “This comes after he understood and seduced the actors on the international scene. This tour coincides with the implementation of economic measures which are both a salvation and tough.” Another Kinshasa newspaper, ‘Le Potentiel’, added that the visit to these provinces was timely. “In very remote areas, it is difficult for people to realise there have been notable changes at the head of state,” it said.
