Police disperse demonstration

    ABIDJAN
    Security forces in the Mauritanian capital, Nouakchott, on Wednesday broke up a rally organised by the opposition Front populaire mauritanien (FPM) in protest against the arrest of FPM leader Shbih ould Cheick Melainine, AFP reported. A few people were injured as police used teargas to disperse the crowd, AFP quoted FPM spokesman Mohamed Fadel ould Mohamed Sidiya as saying. Melainine was arrested on 8 April. He has been charged with conspiring with terrorist groups.
