Opposition leader urges Masire to convene dialogue

Meanwhile, opposition leader, Joseph Olenghankoy, last week urged Masire to convene the inter-Congolese forum to “usher in a new political order” in the DRC, AFP reported. At a press conference in Kinshasa, Olenghankoy asked Masire to convene and determine the a dates and venue of the forum, adding that “beyond this date, the peaceful and democratic opposition and the civil society would be forced to choose a president of the republic.” He criticised President Joseph Kabila’s many trips abroad since he took office on 26 January. He said within 68 days in power, Kabila had already made five trips abroad, visited 15 different countries, and met 17 western personalities without ever setting foot in a single province in the country. “The way in which the head of state is being surrounded by the western countries seems dangerous to us,” he added.
