New fisheries agreement with EU

Equatorial Guinea has signed a new three-year fisheries agreement with the European Union (EU) effective 1 July, the EU said on Monday in Brussels. The renewed protocol allows tuna catches by a maximum of 62 vessels from Spain, France, Portugal and Italy. The annual financial compensation Equatorial Guinea will receive has been increased by 22 percent to the equivalent of US $384,491 to reflect an increase in catches from 4,000 to 5,500 mt of tuna per year.
