Two die in communal clashes

Two people were killed and 20 homes burnt as the long-running feud between the Ife and Modakeke communities, some 150 km northeast of Lagos, flared up at the weekend, PANA reported. The resurgence of violence, it said, followed an early morning raid by an unknown armed group on the village of Ogbogbo Akaro in the Ife South local government. The fighting started a day after President Olusegun Obasanjo met with the traditional rulers of both communities as part of efforts to end the crisis, which has to do with a dispute over land and political control.
