Soldiers accused of attempted kidnapping

    ABIDJAN
    Eight soldiers have been charged with the recent failed kidnap of Djibrilla Hamidou Hima, a spokesman of the country’s defunct military government, AFP reported their lawyer as saying on Tuesday. They are charged with “arbitrary illegal confinement and association with criminals,” the lawyer said. Four other soldiers allegedly involved in the kidnap on 10 June were released on Saturday. Hima, too, was released by his captors a day after they seized him.
