UN Security urges both sides to cease fire

The UN Security Council called on Tuesday for both sides in the war to agree to an immediate ceasefire, in accordance with two Security Council resolutions. Wang Yingfan of China, who currently holds the revolving presidency of the Council, said members had expressed grave concern over the humanitarian situation caused by the fighting and the plight of civilians fleeing the conflict. He said members had also agreed on the need to reconvene proximity talks between the two sides.
