Former PM heads new party

    ABIDJAN
    The former Guinean prime minister Sidiya Toure became president of the opposition l’Union des forces republicaines (UFR) at the weekend, AFP reported the party as saying. The UFR, formed in 1992 and led since then by a secretary- general, decided at a congress to modify its rules and choose a president. It then choose Toure, a one-time prime minister under President Lansana Conte, for the post, AFP said.
