ICTR prosecutor meets Kagame

The chief prosecutor of the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (ICTR), Carla del Ponte, met Kagame in Kigali on Friday to discuss progress in trying those suspected of planning the 1994 genocide, news organisations said. They reviewed the new strategy adopted by the ICTR to expedite the Tribunal’s work by trying people in groups, Rwandan News Agency (RNA) reported. Kagame and Del Ponte said they were both satisfied with the “cordial relations” that now existed between the government and the ICTR, and they expressed their readiness to continue working together to “ensure that justice is done”, RNA reported.
