Mendefera supply route targetted

Journalists in Eritrea are being denied access to the frontline. There is speculation about the Ethiopian targetting of Mendefera, a major supply route from Asmara, one journalist told IRIN. Mendefera is not in the disputed border territories, but Ethiopian forces appear to be “trying to isolate troops in the west and cut off supplies”, said the journalist. No air attacks have taken place around Mendefera town, diplomatic sources in Asmara told IRIN. But air attacks have been reported to the south of the town, sources in touch with the area told IRIN.
