Kenyan president visits Kagame

Kenyan President Daniel arap Moi made a one-day working visit to Rwanda on Friday, according to the Kenyan Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Rwandan President Paul Kagame said Moi’s visit was a valuable support in Rwanda’s nation building process, Kenyan radio reported. Moi congratulated Kagame on his election as president and expressed the hope that the people of Rwanda, irrespective of their ethnic backgrounds, would henceforth live in peace. Friday’s visit to Kigali was Moi’s first diplomatic trip to Rwanda since 1984, 10 years before his ally, former president Juvenal Habyarimana, was killed in the plane crash that triggered the Rwandan genocide of minority Tutsis and politically moderate Hutus.
