Commission's final report on AIDS

The Commission on HIV/AIDS and Governance in Africa (CHGA) has put forward key suggestions for governments to curtail the spread of the HIV/AIDS pandemic, ahead of its final meeting in Washington on Thursday. According to a statement by the UN Economic Commission for Africa, the CHGA has offered policy advice and action points on how to reinforce prevention efforts in a final draft report at the end of its two-year mandate. "Africa must reinforce prevention efforts to save its nations from further ravage by the AIDS pandemic," the report observed. Other recommendations in the draft report were to strengthen health systems and treatment; protect vulnerable groups, such as women, young girls and orphans; and sustainable, coordinated funding.
