Renewed Global Fund appeals in pipeline

South Africa's National AIDS Council (SANAC) will renew its grant appeal to the Global AIDS Fund next year. SANAC received US $18 million of the total $64 million made available by the Fund during the first three rounds of grant allocations and, although its fourth-round application was rejected, the council has been encouraged to re-submit an appeal in 2005. According to the government news agency, BuaNews, SANAC said it would be making further recommendations to the Fund, based on the progress in implementation by grant recipients.
