All set for international AIDS conference

South Africa has won the bid to host an international HIV/AIDS conference that will examine the changing interaction between the biological, psychological and social effects of the pandemic. The 2005 International AIDS Impact Conference, to be held in Cape Town, will also provide a forum for sharing information on the latest research and findings on the virus, while taking a closer look at the total impact of the disease on people living with HIV/AIDS. Conference organiser Professor Lorraine Sherr was quoted by the South African Press Association as saying: "It is the focus on the interaction between the medical and psychological aspects of HIV/AIDS which makes the conference so relevant." The conference will give African scientists, governments and NGOs the opportunity to exchange research-based knowledge and practical experience of HIV/AIDS with their counterparts from around the world.
