AIDS education billboard campaign

South Africa's Limpopo province has stepped up its HIV/AIDS awareness programme through a US $820,000 billboard campaign. Provincial health and welfare minister, Sello Moloto, said the HIV/AIDS awareness billboards would help meet the government's aim to disseminate basic preventative information about the pandemic in all areas of the province. The local BuaNews agency quoted Moloto as saying: "The messages will increase the level of knowledge about safer sex practice, encouraging interaction and communication on safer sex practices, and assist in the reduction of HIV infection." He said there were currently 135 billboards across all six districts of the province, in languages to cater for all people.
