New HIV/AIDS funding underway

Rwanda's national HIV/AIDS control plan is set to benefit from a US $2.8 million African Development Bank (ADB) grant. The bank said in a statement on Tuesday that the recently approved grant was expected to boost the government's efforts in improving the health of its people, and to slow down the spread of HIV/AIDS. Rwanda has one of the highest HIV infection rates in central Africa, with an estimated 11.3 percent of all adults aged between 15 and 35 living with HIV/AIDS. The country's HIV/AIDS Control Commission is currently campaigning to integrate HIV/AIDS programmes into its private and public sectors, as well as seeking new strategies to tackle HIV/AIDS-related stigma and discrimination.
