Free AIDS drugs for Africa

Africa is one of ten developing countries set to benefit from Brazil's free HIV/AIDS drug programme in August, Brazil's government has said. The year-long US $1 million initiative aims to treat 100 people living with HIV/AIDS (PWAs) in Namibia, Burundi, Kenya, Burkina Faso, Mozambique and five Latin American countries. According to the international news service, Agencia Brasil, the ten governments are expected to take up treatment of the PWAs when the project expires. Brazil's treatment plan, which provides free medication currently to some 100,000 Brazilians living with HIV/AIDS, has been hailed as one of the world's best.
