AIDS activists await further investigation

The court hearing of fifteen South African AIDS activists has again been postponed, the South African Press Association (SAPA) reported on Friday. Members of the National Association of People Living with HIV/AIDS (NAPWA) recently appeared in a Johannesburg magistrate's court, only to have their case postponed for the second time. The fifteen were charged in May with malicious damage to property, trespassing and illegal demonstrations during their "Black Easter" campaign for local pharmaceutical companies to provide free drugs to people living with HIV/AIDS. NAPWA spokesman, Sechaba Rantago, said the members were released on their own recognisance, pending further investigation on 20 July.
