South African trade delegation in Kigali

A 30-man delegation from South Africa is currently on a working tour in Kigali, Rwandan radio reported at the weekend. The delegation, lead by Baloyi Ndomwazi, will follow up the advancement of various projects carried out by South Africa in Rwanda and will also enhance the cooperation between the two countries in areas of trade and investment, as well as, infrastructure development. “The delegation will also make a follow up on the discussions held by a joint military commission regarding issues of common interest,” the radio said. “The relationship is picking up very fast,” Ndomwazi was quoted as saying. “The first visits that were exchanged were as early as 1998/9. But then there were no follow ups that took place because of all range of other reasons but we then took a decision that perhaps we need to intensify the engagement between the two countries by following up on opportunities that present themselves between South Africa and Rwanda,” he added.
