President meets EU and Italian delegations

President Isayas Afewerki of Eritrea has held separate talks with a visiting EU delegation headed by EU special envoy to the Horn of Africa, Senator Reno Serri, and an Italian delegation led by Alfredo Mantica, undersecretary in the country’s foreign ministry, Eritrean radio reported on 26 July. Isayas told Serri that the peace process between Ethiopia and Eritrea was not progressing as expected, despite Eritrea’s fulfillment its obligations under the peace agreements signed by the two countries on 18 June and 12 December last year, because of obstacles raised by Ethiopia, said the radio. With the Italian delegation Isayas discussed ways of strengthening bilateral relations.
