France supports development projects

The Republic of Equatorial Guinea and the French aid agency, L’Agence francaise de developpement (AFD), have agreed to collaborate on two development projects amounting to more than one billion FCFA (US $1.45 million), AFP reported. The first project, totaling 860 million FCFA, aims to reduce poverty and refurbish infrastructure, including bridges, schools and town halls in rural districts. France is to contribute 460 million FCFA while the Equatorial Guinean government would provide the rest. The remaining 200 million FCFA will go mainly towards revamping the port and airport facilities of the capital, Malabo, and restoring a neighbourhood there, the French news agency said.
