Rwanda, Zimbabwe exchange prisoners of war

Rwanda and Zimbabwe on Friday began exchanging prisoners of war captured during war in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). “I have come across something to that effect, but I don’t have the details yet,” Rwandan government spokesman Joseph Bideri told IRIN on Friday. The Zimbabwean state-owned ‘Herald’ newspaper on Friday reported that 36 Zimbabwean soldiers held in the Rwandan capital Kigali would be flown to Harare on Friday night. This is the first exchange of prisoners since the warring parties agreed last week to release all prisoners of war, within the framework of the Lusaka peace accord.
