Court allows joint trial for media suspects

The International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (ICTR) on Tuesday granted a prosecution request to try genocide suspect Jean-Bosco Barayagwiza along with two other suspects linked to the hate media, the Hirondelle news agency reported on Wednesday. The Trial Chamber dismissed the defence arguments that Barayagwiza could not be rejoined to the media trial because there was no valid indictment against him. He will be tried alongside the former director of Radio Television Libre des Mille Collines (RTLM) Ferdinand Nahimana, and former editor of the extremist newspaper 'Kangura' Hassan Ngeze.
