Annan to visit five nations

The UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan begins a five-nation tour of West Africa on 24 April, UN spokesperson Marie Okabe said at the weekend. Annan will first visit Senegal where he will meet with officials of the new government of President Abdoulaye Wade and will address the World Educational Forum organised by UNESCO and other UN agencies. Annan will travel to neighbouring Gambia on 28 April and leaves the same day for Gabon. He is then scheduled to visit Central African Republic (30 April - 1 May) and will spend 1-2 May in Cameroon, Okabe said.
