Dane threatened with deportation

Zimbabwe's ruling party wants to ban a Danish aid organisation and deport its representative because of his alleged involvement in forming a new opposition party, AFP reported state media as saying on Monday. Information Minister Chen Chimutengwende told the 'Herald' newspaper that Georg Lemke, an official with the Danish Trade Union Council for International Development Cooperation, "must be severely dealt with." State-controlled media have for several days run stories that Lemke was involved in the formation of a new political party - the Movement for Democratic Change - backed by the Zimbabwe Congress of Trade Unions to which he is an adviser.
