Erika Pineros/Miranda Grant/IRIN On 2 October, the people of Colombia rejected a historic peace deal to formally end more than 50 years of conflict between government forces and the FARC, a left-wing guerrilla group.In the run-up to the plebiscite, public opinion about the peace deal was deeply divided, particularly between city-dwellers and those living in rural areas.
Colombia’s rural areas have borne the brunt of the country’s 52-year long conflict and will be most affected by the outcome of the plebiscite.
